Topic No 22: Encouraging Student Teachers to Act as Classroom Assistants: Positive Impacts

Frequently, when I teach undergraduate or graduate level, whenever students in the seminar room are assigned to present their work individually, I will focus on letting 3 to 4 excellent students present first to be role models for the rest of the class (this will reduce the burden of the teacher). At the same time, I will select 1 excellent student and 1 volunteer,  and let these 2 students act as the Chairman or facilitator of the seminar (which will also reduce my burden). In addition to reducing my burden, it will give me time to listen to the presentation attentively, and analytically, and prepare to list the strengths and weaknesses of individuals or overall of the class to advise the class later. In addition, if it is an online seminar, I will have time to deliver like, applaud, or react to the presenter by telling him what I praised so that the rest of the class will know what he excelled in (what are his outstanding, good practices, or best practices, that others should collect).

The main principle of giving some students in the class the opportunity to act as my assistant or teacher assistants is that since they are preparing to be teachers in the future, being able to act as teacher assistants will be a source of pride for them. It will also encourage some excellent students to become excellent leaders in the future, creating academic leaders. Especially in graduate studies

The goal of assigning some students to act as Teacher assistants is to decrease the burden on teachers, allowing teachers to concentrate and have time to think, analyze, and analyze strengths and weaknesses while students in the classroom present their work. The highest value is to create academic leaders.
